Designing landscapes to live in!

Are you considering a landscape project such as planting, a walk, a wall, patio, pr a deck?  While many homeowners may take this challenge themselves it may be best to seek the consultation of a qualified professional to help along the way.

With plant selection there are many considerations that one will face;
  • Deer resistance
  • Soil type
  • Soil depth
  • Exposure to sun, wind, and other elements
  • Plant habit
  • Plant growth rate
  • Plant survivability
  • Plant care requirements
  • Plant susceptibility to insects and diseases
  • Plant invasive ability
  • Moisture requirements
  • Placement of plants

    • Balance
    • Texture
    • Seasonal features
    • Color
    • Rooting habit
These are the main concerns

For a patio, deck or walk one needs to consider
  • Human traffic flows
  • Municipal restrictions
  • Structural requirements
  • Balance
  • Elevation standards
  • Angles
  • Views
  • Usage

A professional with years of experience will help you avoid costly errors.  Planning is paramount and good planning takes time with revisions.

A good landscape design professional will take you through a process of a series of meetings, editing, and finalizing a project.  It can be quick or take some time with larger complicated projects.

It makes sense to consider a professional in Landscape Design because your landscape is going to last for anywhere from 15- 40 years.  This will be an outdoor space that one can enjoy.

Avoid years of frustration and costs by selecting a seasoned knowledgeable professional.

A good landscape design professional will outline a process that considers your input and provides professional consultation to avoid costly errors creating an outdoor space that is enjoyable and useful.
A good landscape design professional will provide a customer with breakdowns and stages that can divide the project into professional applications and homeowner applications.

Our Landscape Design Process keeps your needs first.

We meet with you first at your home at no cost.  We discuss specific Landscape Design ideas and desires you have and determine the size of the project you wish to engage in.  It may be small enough that this meeting alone will suffice for the landscape design to begin. A simple plan is usually a low cost design option that will supply you with a simple plan including a specific plant list and custom positioning of plants.

In some cases, more detailed plans can be required.  More detailed plans require multiple scheduled visits to your home where the process goes through many stages from conceptual to the final designed project.  After all you will be spending money on a project you intend to enjoy for years.  This should not be thrown together without a thorough examination and exploration into options including environmental limitations and other restrictions.

In our most detailed effort to provide a complete design where grade changes, drainage issues, irrigation, lighting, and hardscaping features will be involved; the landscape project will require a detailed master plan. Coordination with the town officials and other professionals may be necessary. This is a longer process but worth it in the end for the years of enjoyment and problem solving.

In each of the above Landscape Design cases we begin with a visit to your home for and initial interview and determine your needs desires, and preferences.  We assess the current landscape condition and determine what would be the best strategy to accomplish your landscape goal.  Once we have made this assessment and determine a drawing would be the best solution, the process begins.

*      Locate interior areas of the home to determine views and access. The architecture of the home including materials used is considered.

*      Conception of a basic layout of you Landscape Design, locating proposed living areas walkways, service areas and other special requirements in the form of a basic sketch is reviewed with you the customer.  It is not unusual for clients to reveal other options and items they may have considered since the last meeting.  This is encouraged.

*      Once the real outline and hardscape items of the Landscape Design are identified another meeting is scheduled.  Plant materials, scale, screening, flowering, maintenance issues, are discussed and the final stages of the Landscape Design are drawn.  The landscape Design is not final until you are satisfied.  Editing even after the project is started is not a problem.  You will live with this landscape for years and just like you, we want it right.  We Design Landscapes to Live In!

*      Your plan will be in color and may have perspective views or computer imaging to allow you to visualize what your property will look like after installation.  Computer imaging aids in the Landscape Design creation.

*      Your final drawing is ready for quoting and installation.  Within the final level is a Landscape Design that you participated in.  The final Landscape Design is ready follow to begin your landscape projects. All maintenance and care instructions are included with your Landscape Design.

*     The cost of your landscape design can range from a minimal amount to a detailed project depending on the extent.  In all cases some or all of the cost is refunded if you use the FALL Guys to perform the installation.

For the last 27 years, designs have been created for residential and commercial properties including decks, patios, walls, plantings, and water gardens.  Teaching Landscape Design became a passion for Paul where he has had multiple consecutive State Championship Landscape Design Students over a Ten Year period.
